The Eastern Regional Minster, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo said the many social vices in our society was eating deep into the moral fabric of society thus giving a wrong signal towards efforts to building a better Ghana.
He was speaking at the 30th anniversary of the Osino Presbyterian Senior High School at Osino.
The Minister identified hooliganism, occultism, drug addiction, bribery and the improper way of dressing which had engulfed the educational institutions as a threat in producing credible adults for the future generation.
He attributed the increase in these cases to lack of parental control, adding that, shirking of parental responsibilities had to a large extent contributed to why the youth these days lacked respect for the aged and called on all to help to address the problem.
Mr Ampofo commended the founding fathers and teachers of the
school and promised the government’s attention in raising the status of the school.
The headmaster, Nana Frimpong Sekyi said the school is faced with a lot of challenges and appealed to the Minster to assist the school to build a science laboratory, dining hall and a classroom blocks.
He added that, in spite of all the difficulties confronting the school, it was able to brave the odds and continue to produce high calibre of students who today contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of the country.
