He said reliance on Common Funds could not quickly solve challenges, hence the need for commitment in the payment of property rates and business operating permits to support growth in the fastest desired.

Mr. Kumi, in his address during the maiden National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving held at Hohoe, said no one could develop a nation alone but required collective effort, opportunity to take shared vision and unity of purpose.

The event was on the theme: “Reflect, Reset, and Renewal for National Prosperity” which the Mr Kumi said was carefully chosen by President John D. Mahama to redirect the citizenry to a path of progress and development of Ghana.

He said the theme spoke directly to a moment in history, adding that “we are living in a time of great challenges but also wonderful opportunity. Today, I speak to you not just as Municipal Chief Executive but as a fellow Ghanaian who believes in the promise of this land and in the power of faith, unity, and vision.”

Mr. Kumi said the past few years had not been easy for households, businesses and institutions with weathered economic challenges, health crises, infrastructure gaps and rising social demands yet “here we are still standing, still hopeful and still determined.”

He said the Municipality took pride in the major projects and commitments that continued to shape progress such as, the ongoing efforts on the Eastern Corridor Road, a lifeline that connected communities and traders across the region.

Mr. Kumi said the rationing of water in the Hohoe Township must become outdated because the residents deserve consistent and safe access to water.

He said communities deserve transparency and the youth deserved opportunity and the reset, was not only for those in leadership but also a call to all to reset mindsets, habits and relationships that pleased their Maker.

“As we reset, let us also recommit to tackling critical issues such as poor sanitation, which continues to challenge our public health and environmental dignity. Clean surroundings reflect clean hearts and clear vision.”

Reverend Monsignor Anthony Kornu, Parish Priest, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, in an exhortation, said there was the need for citizens to thank God for the nation as well as the peaceful atmosphere enjoyed over the years.

He urged the citizenry to become united with each other for peaceful co-existence, adding that the Day should be marked yearly and must be devoid of partisan politics.

The event was also marked with Islamic prayers which saw a slaughtering of ram to signify the importance of the Day.

Sarki Tajudeen Mairiga, Zongo Chief of Hohoe, on behalf of the Zongo Community, hailed the importance of day to offer thanksgiving as well as pray to Allah for the nation.

He urged citizens especially in Nkwanta of the Oti Region to embrace peace and ensure that the environment was safe for all adding that there was no progress without peace adding that he hoped next year’s event would be marked in the same atmosphere of peace and unity nationwide.
