The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima-Kwanwoma, Mr Emmanuel Agyei Dankwa, has begun his first official tour of the district with a visit to three communities.

The communities were Nweneso Numbers One, Two and Three.
In all the communities the DCE visited, durbars were organized for him to offer him the chance to lay out his plans for the development of the new district.

Mr Dankwa first visited Nweneso Number Three where the chief of the town, Nana Kwasi Abire II, on behalf of his people, assured him and the district assembly of their unflinching support to ensure the success of his administration.

Nana Abire urged the assembly to rehabilitate the road from the town to Foase, which was in a bad state.

The chief stressed that considering the current population of the community, it needed at least three boreholes.

He also appealed for two more public places of convenience in the town, since the only one for the entire community was inadequate.

The chief further appealed to the DCE to provide the people with a qualified midwife to man their health post.

At Nweneso Number Two, the chief, Nana Sakyi Ababio III, and his eldert welcomed the DCE and his entourage at a grand durbar.

In his welcoming address, Nana Ababio was grateful to President John Agyekum Kufuor and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for creating the Atwima Kwanwoma District.

He mentioned some of the problems confronting the town as the rehabilitation of a six-classroom block, which was destroyed by rainstorm about 18 months ago.

At Nweneso Number One, the tradi-tional ruler, Nana Kofi Afrifa II, advised the DCE and the assembly to work hard to develop the new district.

The chief noted that the people needed an additional six-classroom block for the local primary school, adding that the local market and the road leading to the town were crying for rehabilitation.

Mr Dankwa appealed to the people to give him some time to work out plans with the assembly to develop the district.

He also commended the people in the area for the warm welcome they accord-ed him and promised that he would offer good leadership.

The DCE was accompanied by the District Co-ordinating Director, Mrs Stella Owusu-Aduomi, the Presiding Member of the District Assembly, Mr Thomas Kwaku Forkuoh, and the assembly members of the communities he visited, as well as the NPP parliamentary candidate for the area, Dr Kwadwo Aoniah-Kubi.
