He said GHc 230,000 was allocated to the District as its share of the first quarter District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and it received GHc 93,000 after all statutory deductions.
Under development programmes and projects, Mr Denteh said 10 projects were completed last year, under the European Union (EU) Micro Projects Programme encompassing water/sanitation, classroom and residential education facilities and culverts.
Others are a teacher’s quarters at Kromase, a 16-seater vault toilet at Nkwanta, and Keri would be executed this year under the EU project with a fourth being considered for approval.
On Feeder roads, he said the construction of three steel bridges on
the Nkwanta-Dabiase and Portripor-Agou-Kunji roads, was progressing steadily with the second phase surfacing of Nkwanta town roads receiving attention.
Mr Denteh said the Assembly and the Community Water and Sanitation Agency sank a total of 77 boreholes in the District, since 2007 to date, amounting to GHc 577,500.
He said the Assembly in collaboration with Zoomlion was tackling the solid and liquid waste nuisance in the District, with awareness being created on the need for inhabitants to construct toilets in each household.
The DCE said the Assembly in collaboration with the District Directorate of Education sponsored the Best Teacher/Non Teaching awards for 2005-2007 as incentive packages to motivate teachers to give of their best.
