The two-storey facility comprises a computer laboratory and a library to facilitate learning among students, as well as a recreational floor to promote intergenerational activities across the community.

Nana Duku I, an African Diasporan from Washington, DC, and Co-architect of Ghana’s Year of Return, is known in private life as Diallo Sumbry.

In his address, he said the centre would serve as a physical symbol of intergenerational connection and belonging.

He noted that, “it is possible for the historical African Diaspora to show off their best by coming home with the intention of alignment, purpose, commitment, and with respect for traditional protocols. In this wise, there will be a concerted effort to develop Africa.”

In addition to the commissioning ceremony, he cut the sod for the construction of the Nike Arts Gallery to express Africa’s artistic value through exhibition and commercial activities.

Nana Duku I, born on November 4, 1975, celebrated his birthday with friends and comrades from the African Diaspora to promote unity.

Nana Odikro Yeboah II, Chief of Nyame Bekyere, expressed gratitude to the Nkosuohene and called for support from other chiefs to enable him to do more.

He urged people of African descent from Ghana, particularly Nyame Bekyere, to return home and create jobs to improve the socio-economic status of the area, assuring that land would be made available to them.
