Volta Regional Minister, North Tongu MP and DCE Cut Sod for 15 Education Infrastructure Projects
The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, joined the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the District Chief Executive, Hon. Victoria Amefadzie Yawa Doe, to officially cut sod for the construction of 15 educational infrastructure projects across the North Tongu Constituency.

The ceremony was held at Mepe St. Kizito Senior High Technical School and drew dignitaries, traditional leaders, and community members.
The projects, spread across basic and secondary schools, are designed to improve access to quality education, enhance teaching and learning environments, and address critical infrastructure gaps.
The projects include a dining hall with kitchen and a two-storey girls’ dormitory block at Aveyime Senior High School, a two-storey girls’ dormitory block and dining hall with kitchen at Battor Senior High School, a dining hall with kitchen and two-storey dormitory blocks for boys and girls at Volo E-Block, a two-storey boys’ dormitory block with courtyard and a 2,500-capacity dining hall with kitchen at Dorfor Senior High School, and a 2,500-capacity dining hall with kitchen and two-storey boys’ dormitory block at St. Kizito Senior High School in Mepe.
At the basic school level, the projects include six-unit classroom blocks at Mepe RC Primary A, Mepe Holy Christ Primary A, Juapong JTL Basic School, and Battor Avilordzogbe DA Primary, as well as a three-unit L-shaped classroom block at Aveyime Girls Model School.
Speaking at the event, Hon. James Gunu commended stakeholders for their collaboration, stressing that the initiative reflects the government’s strong commitment to education as a driver of sustainable development and human capital growth in the Volta Region. Hon. Ablakwa described the projects as a direct response to community priorities, while Hon. Victoria Amefadzie Yawa Doe pledged the Assembly’s full oversight to ensure timely and quality completion.
Upon completion, the projects are expected to significantly improve public service delivery and living standards across North Tongu, reinforcing the government’s dedication to grassroots development.
