Ghanaian Exhorted to Exercise their Bodies to Live Longer

Ghanaians have been entreated to constantly exercise their bodies in order to avoid contracting life-threatening diseases and to live longer.

Mrs. Christiana Asubonteng, the Afigya Kwabre South District Health Director gave the admonishing when her Directorate engaged with stakeholders to assess the performance of the health sector and to address various health-related issues and challenges in order to improve health care delivery in the district and in Ghana. The event held on Thursday, July 24 2025 at the Methodist Church auditorium at Kodie the district capital, involved groups and actors working in sports, education or health sector.

Mrs Asubonteng intimated that regular body exercise is key to healthy living promoting health and bemoaned the relatively short life witnessed in Ghana as compared with some advanced countries.

In her brief address, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Pearl Patricia Ankrah stressed the importance of body exercise to promote one's health and made special mention of personnel whose work confines them to offices always. She urged members of the public and various organisational groups to involve themselves in physical activities and advised the citizenry to constantly visit the hospital to screen for diseases to stay healthy so they can live long.

 For his part, the Technical Advisor to PATH (Program for Appropriate Technology in Health) Ghana,  Dr George Amofa stated  their scope of operation cuts across the entire country with emphasis on the concerns over physical well-being of Ghanaians. He bemoaned the misdirection of the use of mobile phone on social media where health-related issues are ignored.

Dr Amofa implored Ghanaians to incorporate daily body exercise into their routines for improved health and well-being. He pointed out that irregular physical activities for boosting the immune system are lacking hence chronic diseases like hypertension, diabetes, heart diseases, obesity, among others have taken  centre stage in our lives with devastating consequences. He also used the opportunity to advised citizenry to constantly visit the hospital to screen for diseases to stay healthy so they can live long.
