The torrential rains left a trail of destruction across several communities within the municipality, with Nsawam Presby School among the worst affected. Some classroom blocks suffered severe damage, rendering portions of the structures unsafe for academic activities and posing a significant threat to the safety of pupils and staff.

The sod-cutting ceremony brought together traditional rulers (Nananom), leaders of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, assembly officials, education stakeholders, parents, teachers, students, and community members, all of whom witnessed the commencement of the critical educational infrastructure project.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Fummey explained that the decision to construct the new classroom block became necessary in response to the destruction caused by the recent rains and the urgent need to provide a safe learning environment for students.
According to him, the damaged classroom blocks had become dilapidated and unsafe, making immediate intervention necessary to protect learners and ensure the uninterrupted delivery of education.

"The destruction caused by the recent rainfall made it imperative for us to act swiftly. The affected classroom structures pose a great danger to our school children and learners. As an Assembly, we remain committed to providing safe and quality educational infrastructure for our young people," he stated.

The MCE assured the management of Nsawam Presby School and the leadership of the Presbyterian Church that the Assembly would work diligently to ensure the completion of the project within the shortest possible time.

He expressed profound appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for his leadership and support in addressing the challenges
confronting the municipality. He also commended the District Assemblies Common Fund Secretariat, the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, and the Eastern Regional Minister for their swift response and commitment towards mitigating the effects of the disaster.

Hon. Fummey further extended gratitude to the leadership of the Nsawam Presbyterian Church, traditional authorities, and all stakeholders whose support and collaboration have contributed to the realization of the project.

"I am grateful to President John Dramani Mahama, the District Assemblies Common Fund Secretariat, the Ministry of Local Government, the Eastern Regional Minister, leaders of the Nsawam Presbyterian Church, Nananom, and all stakeholders who joined us to mark this important milestone," he said.

Representatives of the Presbyterian Church and the traditional authorities welcomed the initiative and praised the Assembly for its prompt response to the needs of the school. They described the project as a timely intervention that would restore confidence among pupils, parents, and teachers while enhancing the quality of education in the municipality.

Upon completion, the six-unit classroom block and ancillary facilities are expected to provide a modern, safe, and conducive environment for teaching and learning, while addressing the infrastructure deficit created by the recent floods.
