Police arrest robbery kingpin with stolen items and narcotic drugs at Buoko near Wenchi

An intelligence-led operation conducted by a team from the Bono Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) has led to the arrest of Evans Ameyaw, aged 25 on 23 rd October, 2025 at Buoko, near Chiraa, in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region for possession of stolen items and Narcotic Drugs.

The arrest followed receipt of credible information about criminal activities in dealing with the sale of stolen motorcycles and tricycles in the area.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to collaborating with others in perpetrating this crime. A search by the police in his room led to the retrieval of four motorbikes, two tricycles, and seven compressed slabs of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command in a signed statement said all the aforementioned exhibits have been retained for evidential purposes. He added that stringent efforts were underway to apprehend other suspects involved in the syndicate.

The suspect is currently in custody and is assisting with investigation particularly in tracing the owners of the stolen properties to restore ownership. Meanwhile, efforts were underway to prepare the case for prosecution.
