Dep. Minister visits KMA

The Deputy Minister of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development Mr. Collins Ntim has paid a working visit to Management and Staff of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly in the Ashanti region.

The visit was to consolidate the gains made in the implementation of modernizing agriculture in Ghana (MAG), local economic development (LED), DCACT, general performance of government flagship programmes.

Speaking to members of KMA, the deputy minister noted that, the government, in its determination to create jobs, boost agricultural production and ensure socio-economic transformation, had initiated a number of interventions including Planting for food and jobs PFJ and the One-District-One-Factory (1D1F) programme to achieve these purposes.

Agriculture, he said, had been identified as the most critical and reliable tool for promoting rural economic development and therefore entreated all to take advantage of all policies introduced in the agricultural sector to improve their living standards.

Mr. Ntim urged Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to promote and undertake local economic activities to create jobs to better the lives of the people.

According to him, the mandate of MMDAs, as part of the decentralization process is to undertake and implement policies and programs that would provide employment opportunities for the people.

He commended management of the Assembly for their hard work and dedication.
