Residents insisted on lynching the suspect even when he was arrested and sent to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVSU), at the district command at Ejisu where the police command stood in and prevented the mob attack by the public.

After thorough investigations it was concluded that the suspect was mentally unstable. Divisional Police Commander, ACP Stephen Tane Ngissah, said the uniform of the kids suggested they were pupils of Tikrom M/A Primary School. Hence, he called the assemblywoman of the area together with the Unit Committee Chairman who aided in identifying the family of the four children.

The assemblywoman admitted she knew the children and called their grandmother, Madam Ama Agyapomah to come.

Madam Agyapomah affirmed that the suspect is his son and is mentally ill. And that the alleged suspect lives with the kids in the same house and that they are even related to him. The children were therefore released to their ground mother who took them home. Consequently, the suspect was discharged and released.

ACP Ngissah cautioned the public to “desist from resorting to instant mob justice and leave the job to the professionals to handle”.
