Ejura-Sekyedumase Assembly distributes 60,000 cashew seedlings to farmers

In pursuit of the New Patriotic Party’s manifesto to develop the Agriculture sector to produce crops that will trade internationally and competitively as cocoa, the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly under the leadership of Mohammed Salisu Bamba procured seedlings for farmers within the district who would want to go into cashew production.

As part of the planting for food and Job Programme, Mohammed Salisu Bamba officially launched another version of planting for food and job at Sekyedumase town in the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality.

The MCE called on the youth and farmers to take the project seriously. He further said the program is an initiative of the Assembly to help improve the living standard of the people in relation to President Akuffo Addo's vision to create jobs for the people.



Mr. Bamba presented about 60,000 seedlings to 327 registered farmers to engage into cashew production out of which 234 of them are men and about 97 are women. In all about 1390 acres are expected to be covered with cashew this year.

The MCE further announced that, the second phase of the project will commence next year in collaboration with AGRA and European Union, in which more seedlings will be planted creating more than 10, 000 jobs.



He further advised farmers to avoid politicizing the project and rather focus on developing the people and Municipality.
