Nhyiaeso schools take delivery of dual-desks

Nine basic schools in the Nhyiaeso sub-metropolitan area, have been supplied with dual-desks, costing a total of GHs20,000.00.

The beneficiaries are African Faith, Sokoban, Apraman, Adiebeba, Kwadaso Estate, Fankyenebra, Patasi, Santasi SDA and Santasi M/A.

Each of the schools received 40 of the dual-desks and these were procured by the Sub-Metropolitan Council.

Mr. Osei Assibey-Antwi, the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), who was on hand to present them, identified inadequate furniture as a major challenge, schools in the metropolis had been struggling with and gave the assurance that this would be tackled.

He spoke of plans by the assembly to see to it that every new school block constructed had full complement of furniture for the teachers and children. 

Mr. Assibey-Antwi added that education development was an urgent priority of the metropolitan assembly.

It would go the extra mile to create the necessary conditions for effective teaching and learning.

He used the occasion to underline the government’s determination to work with all stakeholders to achieve the sustainable development goal relating to quality education.

Mr. Assibey-Antwi said this was within reach, given commitment and implementation of the right policies. He also highlighted the need to motivate teachers and ensure proper supervision of the schools to raise performance.    

He applauded the Sub-Metro Council for initiating programmes to improve the lives of the people, citing the launch of the “No tolerance for cholera” campaign and collaboration with the Centre for Social Innovation to develop the creative skills of school children.

Mr. Louis Addai, head teacher of the African Faith M/A Basic School, received the furniture on behalf of the other beneficiaries and promised that they would take good care of them.
