According to Mr. Stephen Aidoo the municipal director of the Department, to ensure efficiency and value for money the Ministry of Food and Agriculture will implement the modalities with the support of officials of the Nations Builders Corps NABCO.

He said fertilizers and seeds supplied will be embossed with PFJ logos whiles all inorganic fertilizers will be in 25kg bags.

Mr. Aidoo indicated that copies of waybills on all consignments must be submitted to relevant regional ministers or their representatives and regional directors of agriculture for endorsement before offloading or further transportation to the districts whiles consignments going directly to the districts will have to be endorsed by the affected DCE’s and directors of agriculture.

He said NABCO officials will be placed at all retail outlets in all regions to supervise and record the quantities of fertilizers and seeds sold to farmers through the use of daily records sheets adding that the Plant Protection and Regulatory Services Directorate (PPRSD) would intensify quality control measures under the programme to ensure quality in the provision of both fertilizers and seeds.

Mr. Lawrence Adomako, the municipal extension officer took participants through the types of fertilizers and seeds available for the year and their corresponding prices.

He also touched on documentation, payment and stock taking as well as other measures put in place to ensure a smooth distribution process in the municipality.

Participants asked a number of questions on issues bothering them to which answers were provided.
