Ellembele: Assembly poised to harness resources to improve lives - DCD

As a coastal community, the Ellembele district has the benefit of the sea that can be put to many uses and currently one of the areas that the country's oil production is raking place.
Other major productions include cocoa, gas and gold, all of which contribute largely to the country's GDP.
The DCD disclosed that there are a number of deprived communities in the district and the focus is to help uplift those communities to make life better for the inhabitants, and that is where the chunk of their development projects would be directed to.
He noted that the assembly has brought all stakeholders on board in its quest to accelerate development and this, he stated is yielding positive results.
On projects as contained in the guidelines for the use of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), he disclosed that the Assembly has started the implementation process stating, "we are going strictly according to the guidelines given to us by the District Assemblies Common Fund and as of now we are done with procurement and some of the contracts have been awarded".
He said the Assembly is committed to the judicious use of funds which explains why they have channeled a chunk of their internally generated funds to projects like building schools, CHPS compounds, roads and water projects.
Alhassan Mohammed who was speaking after leading his district to the Local Government and Rural Development's public hearing of annual audit statements told the media his outfit is working assiduously to generate more by way of their internally generated funds to complement the government's released through the DACF.
