Ejura-Sekyeredumase holds workshop on 'Ghana Rice Project'

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture in collaboration with Ejura-Sekyeredumase Municipal Assembly and AGRA has held a sensitization workshop and field visit in Ejura on a project christened 'Ghana Rice Project'.

The event is under the government’s flagship “Planting for Food and Jobs” programme.

Government is rolling out this project in 15 Districts and Ejura Sekyedumase Municipality is one of these Districts that are currently benefitting from this special project.


Under the project, Ejura Sekyedumase Municipality is targeting about 2000 farmers as beneficiaries. The project is intended to;

1. Supply subsidized rice seeds to farmers
2. Supply subsidized fertilizer to farmers
3. Provide capacity building / technical support to farmers
4. A proposal to renovate Aframso Irrigation River to serve numerous rice farmers. Other crop growers will also benefit when this is completed


The project is expected to create jobs for youth in the area who wish to enter into rice farming.
