Assembly supports persons with disabilities
The Birim North District has supported one hundred and eighty-four (184) persons with disabilities (PWD’s) in the District.

This forms part of the Assembly’s effort to resource PWD’s across the District.
Speaking at the ceremony, the District Chief Executive of the area, Raymond Nana Damptey cautioned the PWD’S to strive to attain economic sufficiency and not to only rely on family, friends and politicians for their livelihoods.
He also urged the PWD’s to take advantage of the various interventions by the government towards enriching the lives of citizens.
He added that the ceremony will see to the presentation of different tools, devices, cash support and others to PWD’S to help make their lives improved.
The DCE was thankful to the Disability Fund Management Committee, Staff of the Social welfare and Community Development Department of the Assembly and all Stakeholders for their efforts in helping to identify and bringing together all the PWD’s.
He said out of the 883 PWD’s registered with the Assembly, 848 had been enrolled unto the NHIS.
He added that an amount of GHS175, 065.00 had been spent by the Assembly on start-up kits, medical support, Assistive Devices, Educational Support and Apprenticeship Training Support for the 184 PWD’s present at the gathering.
He urged them to make good use of the support in order to create the opportunities for the others to benefit same.
Present at the gathering were the District Coordinating Director, Head of Departments and Units, Ghana Federation of Disabled and members of the public.
