BIBIANI: Dr. Afriyie tours second cycle schools

As part of efforts to ensure the smooth take-off and running of one of government’s flagship programmes, “The Free Senior High School” programme, the Western Regional Minister, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie visited some of the second cycle schools in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai district to acquaint himself with happenings in the school.

The Minister who visited two schools, Queens Senior High School and Sefwi Bekwai Senior High School (SEBESS) was particularly concerned with identifying challenges confronting the schools and how best to help address them.

At the Queens Senior High School, though the Dr. Afriyie was not happy with enrollment, he understood the difficulties the school is in particularly with infrastructure and promised to adopt the school and help it achieve the standard like other notable girls senior high schools in the country.

He urged authorities in the school to consider adding science to the courses being offered. To this end, he promised to help the school get a science laboratory to help in the successful roll-out of the science programme.

 

 

The Queens Senior High School is being moved to a new campus at Anhwiaso, following plans to convert the existing campus into a health training school.

However, work on structures on the new campus will have to be expedite, and the Minister assured that will be prioritized to provide the students with a conducive teaching and learning environment.

   

 

Sefwi Bekwai Serious High school is also not without challenges and they have pleaded with the Minister to help complete all uncompleted structures for the school.

Dr. Kwaku Afriyie who was led by Mr. Alfred Amoah, District Chief Executive and officials from the District Education Service advised school authorities to adhere to laid down rules to ensure the free SHS meets its desired objectives.
