SEKYERE WEST : Books for community library
 | | | |
Yonso Project, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) donated a variety of books worth several millions of cedis to the Yonso community library near Mampong. The NGO is committed to the education of pupils and students in deprived areas in the Sekyere West District of Ashanti. The donation is to help equip the library with adequate and requisite books needed to promote the habit of reading among pupils and students. Mr Kwabena Danso, Director of Operations of the Yonso Project, called on Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to endeavour to institute scholarship schemes for needy pupils and students to enhance their educational development. This, he said, was crucial to tapping the potentials and God-given talents inherent in such students, especially those who live in the rural areas for an accelerated socio-economic development of the country.
Nana Amoakohene Dadie III, chief of Yonso, who received the books on behalf of the library, thanked the NGO for the kind gesture and urged pupils and students in the town to cultivate the habit of reading to help their educational development.
