JOMORO: Basic schools receive furniture
Government has made available to public basic schools in the Jomoro District 3,700 furniture valued at GHc480, 025.00 through the Jomoro District Education Directorate for distribution in the district.
This is to ease the furniture challenges facing the schools.
Mr Angelo Turkson, District Works Engineer told the Ghana News Agency at Half Assini that furniture were made up of 1,900 dual desks, 1,400 mono-desks and 400 kindergarten tables and chairs.
Mr Turkson said the items were presented to the Ghana Education Service in November last year by Mr Sylvester Daddieh, the Jomoro District Chief Executive on behalf of the Education Ministry.
With the re-opening of 2012/13 academic year, almost all the public schools visited by the DCE during “My First Day at School" complained of furniture problem, hence the supply of the items, the District Works Engineer said.
A source at the Jomoro Education Directorate said a larger proportion of the items had since been distributed.
