Computers

Dr Kwame Kyei-Baffour, Chief Executive Officer of the Unity Oil Group of Companies has donated 20 computers and accessories worth GH¢6,000.00 to the Amankwatia M/A Primary “B” School to help boost ICT education in the school.

The occasion coincided with the commissioning of the facility converted from an old classroom.

Presenting the computers at the short commissioning ceremony, Dr Kyei-Baffour said the gesture was in response to an appeal made by the school which had only five computers donated by Mr Isaac Osei, the Member of Parliament (MP) Subin-Constituency and the Kumasi Metropolitan Authority (KMA).

The laboratory can now boast of a projector, screen and a printer and would serve about 400 pupils.

He urged parents to purchase personal computers and books for their wards to bring them abreast with the digital world.

Receiving the items, Madam Margaret E. Agyemang, the Headmistress, thanked the donors and other individuals and groups for their immense contribution towards realising the dream of the school to own an ICT Centre.

Mr Samuel Sarpong, Ashanti Regional Minister Designate, in a speech read on his behalf, said since education is a strategy to reduce poverty, government wants to improve educational standards thereby improve and provide a congenial atmosphere for teaching and learning.

He charged the pupils to reciprocate by concentrating and focusing on their books.
