JOMORO: Assembly presents start-up kits to trained youth
Chief Executive for the Jomoro District Assembly, Mr. Sylvester Daddieh has commended government for its continuous effort in the area of helping reduce the ever rising unemployment rate in the country.
According to him, government has for the past few years established avenues such as the Local Enterprises & Skills Development Program (LESDEP), Youth Enterprises and Skills Development Programme (YESDEP) and Youth in Agriculture among other youth entrepreneurship programmes as part of efforts to better the lives the youth.
The DCE made this disclosure, when speaking at the graduation ceremony for about 112 young women who received training in dressmaking and hairdressing under the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneur Development Agency (GYEEDA).
The Beneficiaries made up of 72 dressmakers and the rest hairdressers also received start-up kits to help them in the establishment of their own private businesses.
Mr. Daddieh expressed gratitude to government for the development and urged beneficiaries to use what has been given to them wisely and avoid its sale.
Meanwhile, about 3,200 youth had so far been train under GYEEDA programme in the district.
