SISSALA E: More individuals acquire start up kits
Some individuals in the Sissala East district have received start up kits under the National Youth Employment Programme(NYEP) in support to enable them facilitate and establish private ventures in their respective areas.
About 255 sewing machines and 100 hairdressing kits were specifically delivered to the beneficiaries by the Sissala East District Assembly (SEDA) as a strategy to sustain interest of the residents in the entire programme and also push them in setting up businesses to assist grow the economy of the district.
The former DCE for the Assembly, who is currently the Member of Parliament for the area and a member of the SEDA, Hon. Sulemana Alijata Gbentie in a recent interview with Ghanaditricts.com underscored that these socio-economic intervention by government has to a large extent succeeded in reducing rural-urban migration in the area.
She noted that the infamous head porter job popularly known in the local parlance as Kayayie undertaken by indigenes, especially the youth of the area is steadily dying down as residents would resort to getting skills training to better their social lives rather than going into such menial jobs.
Also beyond this, the assembly has resolved to procure some containers for the 255 beneficiaries to help ease the pressure in their effort in acquiring some space for business.
