HO: Ministry Of Local Gov presents bus to cured lepers Village
The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has presented a 39-seater bus to the Schoonhoven cured lepers village in Ho.
Mrs Dzifa Attivor, Deputy Minister for Transport who presented the bus on behalf of the Ministry yesterday, said the gesture was in line with the “Better Ghana Agenda” to all, especially the less privileged.
She also made a personal donation of assorted items including bags of rice, maize and cooking oil to the inhabitants of the Village.
This is the fourth time she made such personal donations to the Village at Christmas and on Easter.
Mrs Attivor said the government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was committed to the welfare of all Ghanaians.
“For us, the welfare of everyone is paramount and we remain committed to this,” she said.
Mrs Attivor assured inmates of the Village that government would soon provide equipment for its skills training centre to make it operational.
She also gave the assurance that the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development would honour its promise of constructing a fence wall around the Village to prevent encroachment and enhance the security of the inmates.
Dr Mary Kporku, Medical Superintendent in charge of the Ho Polyclinic expressed gratitude to Mrs Attivor and the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development for the support.
She said but for such “good gestures” it would be very difficult for the Polyclinic to manage the place.
The inhabitants of the Village drummed and danced all day in appreciation of the presentations.
