NSAWAM:Chiefs urged to initiate projects to attract gov’t support

Nana Opare Odei II, Apedwahene of Ahwerease-Akuapem and the Chief of Okobeyeyiye has appealed to the general public and others in the royal houses to initiate self-help developmental projects to attract government support.
Nana Opare Odei, who made the call at Okobeyeyiye after a five-hour communal labour organised by the elders of the town, said the exercise was aimed at forestalling the outbreak of diseases in the community.
Participants in the exercise cleared choked gutters and overgrown surroundings and re-graveled some of the roads in the town.
Nana Opare Odei, who said the entire cost of the exercise at 2,000 Ghana cedis was borne by him, called on the public to unite so as to undertake development projects in the community.
He said so far the people through their own efforts have erected 100 electrical poles and appealed to government to assist them in extending electricity to the town adding that plans are also far advanced to also construct two KVIP places of convenience for the town.
The Apedwahene used the occasion to appeal to non-governmental organisations and corporate organisations to assist the development efforts of the area.
