Some jubilant fans

Volta Regional capital, Ho, Sunday night went into frenzy amidst wild jubilation immediately Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan, Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC) declared President John Dramani Mahama winner of the 2012 presidential election.

The town, which had been very quiet all day, suddenly became alive following the declaration some minutes after 2200 hours.

Hundreds of people, old and young including children poured onto the street causing heavy human and vehicular traffic.

One of the major points of convergence was the frontage of the campaign office of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), where hundreds of young people converged in NDC paraphernalia screaming “ide bee keke,” “Free SHS” with some carrying “chop boxes” and mattresses.

Several “borborbor and jama” groups performed and paraded the town all night long as drinking bars enjoyed the drifting of people in and out of those spots.

A middle-aged women, who gave her name as Madam Grace Afiyo Adobea, told the GNA: “I love Ghana. We are very peaceful,” she said.

Sylvester Tetteh, a taxi driver commended the EC and the security agencies for ensuring the integrity of the polls.

Mr Stanley Glate, Ho Central Constituency Secretary of the NDC said, “I feel great and proud to be part of the NDC family.”
