About 10 communities in the West zone of the Kassena Nankana West District have been considered to be covered under the implementation of the Rural Electrification Programme(REP) which is due to take off very shortly in the area.
Mr. Thomas Dalu Addah, District Chief Executive for the area, has unveiled that Wuru, Nakon and some other small communities are all beneficiaries of the project.
Speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, the DCE maintained that a lot of the communities under the district have already been connected to the national grid, whiles arrangements were still ongoing to get more communities covered under the government’s energy delivery programme.
He said this will assist inhabitants of such communities to improve their social lives, noting that the extension of electricity to these local communities will give the avenue for more people to venture into small businesses.
The Rural Electrification Programme (REP) is however, part of government’s strategies to expand access to electricity in all parts of the country, especially the deprived areas.
