LEKMA: Assembly inaugurates Joint Security Taskforce for Election 2012

The Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) has inuagurated a Joint Security Taskforce ahead of the beckoning December 7, 2012 general elections.
The Task Force comprises representatives drawn from the Security Agencies, the Municipal Assembly, and the Electoral Commission as well as other co-opted members from independent organizations.
Mr. Daniel Amartey Mensah LEKMA Chief Executive, during the inauguration said the taskforce would oversee the maintenance of law and order before, during and after the Elections.
“Considering the spate of lawlessness and tension that such occasions sometimes tend to bring to sections of the country, it is prudent to set up such a body to see to the smooth running of the elections,” he added.
The taskforce would among other duties help identify and manage flashpoints, ensure for the protection of all election materials, gather intillegience and advice the EC on security issues accordingly, see to the recruitment and deployment of security personnel to the various polling centres to ensure law and order, assure the registered voters to exercise their franchise devoid of intimidation and threats.
