ASUOGYAMAN:LESDEP beneficiaries to be honoured today

The Asuogyaman District Assembly is currently holding a graduation ceremony for some persons who were made acquire skill training under the Local Enterprises and Skills Development Programme (LESDEP) programme in the area.

LESDEP is one the special youth employment initiatives that were introduced by the  National Democratic Congress (NDC) in its quest to reduce the ever growing unemployment rate in the country.

However speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com prior to the programme the District Chief Executive, Johnson Ahiakpor noted that beneficiaries were made to undergo training in areas such as hairdressing, tailoring and dressmaking, mobile phone repairs, barbering among others.

He added that in effort to ensure that they yield positively from what they have acquired, beneficiaries are also expected to take home start-up kits such as hair dryers, barbering machines, sewing machines among other valuable items to enable them establish their individual private businesses.
