The Lower Manya Municipal Assembly has moved to the rescue of the Mount Mary Primary School at Atua which is faced with overcrowding.
Mr. Isaac Agbo-Tetteh who disclosed this to Ghanadistricts.com noted that the excellent academic records of the school each year has increased interest of parents and students in the school. He said the situation needed urgent attention to accommodate the additional numbers hence the decision of the assembly to add a six unit classroom block to the existing one.
According to him, the project is moving fast on schedule as it has already gotten to the lentil level and is hoped to be completed by the end of the year. He indicated that the assembly is equally providing other important logistics including desks to ensure smooth teaching and learning.
He believed the performance of the school could be attributed to the readiness of the students to learn and the hard work of teachers who are under good and regular monitoring as the school is a demonstration school for the Mount Mary College of education.
In a related development, the MCE disclosed that a 300 capacity boys’ dormitory block has been completed for the Akro Senior High School. He described it as welcome news since it will offer the students a better sleeping place.
