Under its climate change programme being pursued in the area, the Bongo District Assembly has settled to undertake 1 hectare each of fruit plantation this year in certain areas of the district.
This is ostensibly a continuation of the programme which had long been started in the area in previous years to boost the quality of the environment and help solve climate issues at the district.
The project is scheduled to be carried out at dam sites to further enhance and boost climate change patterns in the project areas.
Some of the communities where these projects have already been undertaken include Dorigo, Dua, Gambrongo, Gorigo, Soe, Dalungu and Adaboya amongst others.
Interacting with Ghanadistricts.com the District Chief Executive for the area, Clement Akugre Atiah intimated that the plantation mainly involves mango trees and other fruit trees.
He anticipated that if this project is utterly promoted in the area with the seriousness it requires it will help mitigate the effects of the climate change problems in the area.
