Residents in the Keta Municipal assembly who were affected by recent tidal waves receive support from President John Mahama.
The items which included mats, cement, maize, rice, cooking oil, blankets second hand clothing among others were meant to provide some relief to the victims during this difficult time when their places of residence and belongings were washed away.
President Mahama said he sympathized with the victims and the gesture is the government’s small way of alleviating their suffering for the time being.
Mr. Mahama who made stop over at various places including Dabala, Angloga Dzodze, and Denu thanked the people for their show of support during the demise of late President J.E.A Mills.
In Ho, the regional capital where he addressed large gathering of residents of the region, President Mahama, disclosed that $240 million has been approved by the Brazilian government towards the successful execution of the Eastern Corridor roads which is under construction.
He said the region stands to draw immense benefit from the project because it will open up the region to economic activities. He also added $10million have been secured for the expansion of facilities at the University of Health and Allied Sciences, the only public university being established at the region.
