President John Mahama is headed to the Eastern Region today Wednesday 22 August, 2012 with his thank you tour.
The president is embarking on the tour to officially express the government’s appreciation to the people of Ghana for their show of love and sympathy as well as support during the funeral rites of the late President John Evans Atta Mills.
He will address the chief and people of the region at the Jackson’s Park and also visit some other areas including the Suhum Road to urge the contractor to speed up work on the project to bring relief to the travelling public.
The president was in the Volta region yesterday amidst rousing reception where he pledged to continue and complete major infrastructure projects that are ongoing especially to speed up work on the Eastern Corridor road.
Eastern Regional Minister Victor Smith said they are waiting for the arrival of the president.
He said the people of the eastern region are ready to show love and appreciation to the president because they have seen a lot of improvement in their communities in the last three and a half years since the National Democratic Congress took over the reign of the country.
He said the people of rural Ghana and their traditional leaders are best in position to attest to the positive changes they that have been brought to their areas.
