GA S: Santa Maria Area needs storm drains

The Assemblyman for Santa Maria Electoral Area in the Ga Central District, one of the newly created districts curved from the Ga South Municipality, William Ottopah is appealing to the government and benevolent organizations to come to their aid to provide them with culverts.

He said whenever it rains, the area easily gets flooded recalling an incident which happened last year during the rainy season in which about 500 people were displaced and thousands of Cedis worth of properties destroyed.

“We have serious drainage problem,” he intimated.

He complained that all the waste water running from Sowutuom and Awoshie all passes through the area which even makes the situation more dangerous.

Mr. William Ottapha who was speaking in an interview with Ghanaistricts.com said the earlier the problem was solved for them the better.

In another development, Mr. Ottapha suggested that a very big government land in the area should be cleared and converted into a market place or school structures erected on it since they lacked such facilities.
