MILLS’ FUNERAL:Mills laid to rest

Late Mills

The fully dedicated service life and days on earth of Prof. JEA Mills, Late President of the Republic of Ghana, has ended peacefully today as he had been finally laid to rest at the now christened ‘Asomdwee Park’.

He was led to his burial place in a beautiful procession by the pall-bearers through the principal streets of Accra to the park for his interment.

Thousands of people had already flanged the streets to catch a glimpse of the remains of the Late President and to bid farewell to their leader as he was being ushered honourably to his graveside at the Peace Park.

Also at the park, scores of people were gathered and settled before the cortege of the departed President, including the clergy, government functionaries, host of African leaders and other international delegation reached to give their last respect to Mills.

As the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, he was given military honours after his interment with a 21 gun salute to crown it all in his journey to glory which properly befits his status in the Army.

President Mills died 24th July, 2012 at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra after he was taken ill suddenly that morning and was rushed there for treatment.
