The Chief Executive for Abura Asebu Kwamankese District Assembly, William Ata-Mends has commended the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Mr. Kwesi Amissah Arthur for yesterday’s splendid performance on his vetting by Parliament’s Appointment Committee.

Mr. Kwesi Amissah Arthur yesterday met the Parliament Appointment Committee after being appointed by the incumbent President, John Dramani Mahama as the Vice President designate following the death of the Professor JEA Mills.

According him, Mr. Amissah also a native of the district exhibited what he described as a high sense of intelligence and good moral upright, adding that the duo could work assiduously to complete the “Better Ghana” agenda programme which was initiated by the late President.

“ The man actually showcased a high sense of maturity towards good governance, his composure in answering various questions posed by members of the committee also gives a clue of his competence to hold the high office as the Vice President of the republic” he said.

He further expressed optimism by reiterating that the two leaders are capable of changing the economic fortunes of the country within the next few months.

He however declined to comment on whether the NDC party executives were ready to endorse the Mahama-Amissah ticket come September as flag- bearer and a running-mate for the 2012 election but only said that decision was left for the party executives.

Mr. Ata-Mends further revealed that the assembly is currently arranging an emergency meeting with the Abura, Asebu and Kwamankese Traditional Councils on how best to visit the Osu Castle to express their appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and also officially welcome their native to the seat of government.
