AMA:Two edifice named after Prez Mills

The Millennium City School

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly has named two edifice including the new Millennium City School at the Salvation Army Cluster of Schools and the Accra High street after President J.E.A Mills.

The Millennium City School happened to be the President’s last project he commissioned on the 18th July, 2012 before his sudden demise on 24 July, 2012 at the 37 Military Hospital.

The decision to rename these two monuments after the late President was taken at an emergency meeting by the assembly on Monday, where a resolution was passed to effect the change of names.

The Accra High Street would now be called “Evans Atta Mills Street”, while the Salvation Army Cluster of Schools is now “President Evans Atta Mills Educational Center of Excellence”.

Mayor of Accra, Mr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuije said the decision was in recognition of the contributions of President Mills to the Accra Metropolis particularly in the education sector where his determination has led to the abolishing of the shift system in the city.

He disclosed that another suggestion wealthy of implementation was a proposed statue of Professor John Evans Atta Mills at the National Lottery Authority area.

The leadership of the assembly including some other members also signed the book of condolence at the International Conference Centre.
