SAWLA: Assembly expands small town water system project
 | | | Pipe borne water | |
The Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Assembly is embarking on some extension works on the Small Town Water System being rolled out in the district.
This is intended to open up the water system of the district across board to enable people living in deprived communities to also enjoy potable water.
A minimum of 45 boreholes have been considered to be drilled for inhabitants of certain selected communities under this move.
However a total number of 5 boreholes have now been drilled so far to begin the project in the respective areas earmarked to benefit from the project.
The move is a collaborative effort between the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) and the Assembly, and forms part of government’s strategy to extend water to rural communities.
