POLITICS:Amissah-Arthur faces parliament today

Vice President Nominee Mr. Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur would today Monday 6, 2012 face the parliamentary vetting committee for approval to his new position as the number two gentleman of the land.
Though many argued that his new position is equally important as the minister of defence and should not be vetted publicly, parliament has decided otherwise, and Mr. Amissah-Arthur’s vetting would be public.
Until his nomination by President John Mahama, Mr. Amissah-Arthur was the Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
The sudden demise of the late President J.E.A Mills necessitated the then Vice President Mr. John Dramani Mahama to be sworn in as President leaving the Vice Presidential position vacant. And by the same constitution, the president is required to nominate his vice subject to parliamentary approval.
Many prominent personalities in the ruling National Democratic Congress NDC, believe the nominee has what it takes to occupy the position especially with his economic background.
