Madam Doris Owusu, Accra Metropolitan Guidance and Counseling Officer of Ghana Education Service, said sound christian education helped children to mature and well developed citizens to contribute positively in national development.

She noted that this called for healthy collaboration and co-ordination between teachers and parents involved in the task of developing the children.

“Teachers, who are front-line educators, have the onerous responsibility of inculcating in the children a virtuous life by laying a potent foundation for life long education and careers.”

Madam Owusu made the observation at the 19th graduation of 40 pupils from the Hanson Road Seventh-Day Adventist School Complex in Accra.

It was on the theme: “Sound Christian Education – A Tool for Development”.

She noted that in addition to the basic responsibilities parents provided to their children, they needed to continuously sacrifice for the future well-being of their children.

Madam Owusu said both the home and the school had vital roles to play for children to develop their talents, adding “These institutions make the child who he or she is”.

She advised the pupils to be good children, respect all persons, take all life endeavours seriously, avoid conflict and unruly behaviour, adding "Remember that the choices you make today have a lot of implications for your future”.
