The Inter Party Youth Committee (IPYC) has expressed its condolence to Mrs Ernestina Naadu Mills, family of late President John Evans Atta Mills and the people of Ghana.
A statement signed by Mr Kadri Abdul-Rauf, Secretary of IPYC and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Wednesday said: “As we are all remembering the first week of the demise of our late President, we wish to express our condolences again to the immediate family of the President, more especially his wife, Mrs Naadu Mills, the Government and the NDC party.”
The statement said the death of the late President was a national loss and was a great shock and sorrow when the news broke out, and, “We still find it uneasy to cope with.”
It said: “Though IPYC members share different views, political ideologies, and approaches to nation building, our common determination to building our country and raising the standard of living of our people to any, held by the countries of Europe and elsewhere connects us with the deceased President naturally.
“His symbolism of peace and goodwill and his commitment to hard work even at his last days is now an open book for all to see. His name and deeds are already engraved in the everlasting book of Ghana’s history as we count him as one of the most successful former Presidents of Ghana”.
The statement said: “In this moment of grief and loss of a noble and trusted statesman, we take consolation in Isaiah 57, verses 1 and 2, thus:" The righteous perish, and no one ponders it in his heart; Devout men are taken away, and no one understands that the Righteous who walk uprightly enter into peace; They find rest as they lie in death."
