YILO K:Hunger Project-Ghana assists 4 centres
Municipal Chief Executive of the Yilo Krobo Municipality, Andrews Sodah has disclosed that the Hunger Project-Ghana (THP-GH) has granted an amount of US$25,000.00 to each of the four (4) Epicenters constructed in the municipality.
The financial support is to enable the centres to operate a micro-finance scheme to the benefit of the local people.
The MCE however expressed regret at the attitude of some beneficiaries of the loan which he disclosed threatened the sustain ace of the scheme.
The MCE who was addressing assembly members at the second ordinary meeting of the second session of the fifth assembly indicated that reports reaching the Assembly suggest that with the exception of Akpo, one of the beneficiary centres which has a recovery rate of over 90%, the remaining three (3) Epicenters are facing difficulties in recovering the loans granted to beneficiaries.
Mr. Sodah said under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Assembly and THP-GH, the Assembly is responsible for overseeing the management of the Schemes. It is therefore not out of place for the Assembly to step in to prevent a possible collapse of the Schemes.
In view of this, he called on the house to endorse management’s decision to prosecute loan defaulters under the Schemes especially those of Obenyemi, Boti and Ponponya to serve as deterrent to others and strengthen the Schemes and make them viable.
