ELLEMBELE: NDC Executives mourn with Ghanaians
 | | | |
The Ellembelle Constituency Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Thursday said it received the news of the demise of President John Evans Atta Mills with shock and deep regret.
They described the incident as a “great blow to the party and the nation at large.”
According to the Executives, at a time when the President was making frantic efforts to fix the economy, the news about his exit was the least Ghanaians expected.
Mr Kwesi Berveh, Constituency Chairman of the party, in an interaction with the Ghana News Agency expressed the executives’ condolence to the bereaved family and Ghanaians at large.
He described President Mills as a man of peace, a symbol of unity and development, a workaholic and a God-fearing political leader.
Mr Berveh expressed the hope that God would bestow the same wisdom on his successor, President John Dramani Mahama, to enable him to steer the affairs of the nation to a successful end of term.
He said at a time when the nation was bracing up to go to the polls in less than five months, President Mills was not expected to leave the party to its fate, but they take consolation in the fact that “God knows best”.
He advised Ghanaians to allow the death of the President to unite the nation and urged Ghanaians to go to the polls in December peacefully as an honour to President Mills.
