KINTAMPO N: 340 employed under NYEP

About 64 skilled and unskilled youth in the Kintampo North Municipality have been provided with jobs under the National Youth Employment Programme to cut down the ever- increasing youth unemployment rate in the area.
Beneficiaries were employed under these areas including fire service (6), Interns (5), Auto- mechanism (20), Prison Service (2), Arabic Instructing (30) and Health Extension Service (1).
Speaking at an assembly sitting, the Municipal Chief Executive Alhaji A. S. Harrison noted the newly recruited persons add up the existing 276, and subsequently totalling the number of personnel engaged under the programme to 340.
He however added that more are expected to benefit from the programme.
In addition, the MCE further disclosed that 227 youth have also been registered under the Local Enterprise and Skills Development Programme (LESDEP) also aimed at addressing unemployment rate in the area.
He said they were made to undergo training in sectors such as hairdressing, corn milling, dressmaking, tipper truck driving among others, adding that some beneficiaries will soon be graduated.
