N JUABEN: GES takes delivery of 5,500 laptops

 
  

The Minister of Education, Mr. Lee Ocran has said that government is determined to provide sixty thousand laptops to basic schools throughout the county before the end of this year.  

So far fifteen thousand out of the number have already been distributed.

Mr. Ocran disclosed this at the launch of basic Education computerization project in Eastern Region at Koforidua where he presented   five thousand five hundred (5,500) laptops out of the five thousand six hundred (5,600) required in the region to the Ghana Education Service to be distributed to the schools.

He said it is high time Ghanaians changed their attitude and explore to become one of the best ICT countries in the world.

He said before the children who are being provided with the laptops can understand the technology well, their teachers must first be well equipped.  

Mr. Ocran said it is against this background that government is planning that basic school teachers also benefit from the package.  He assured Ghanaians that government will continue to deliver in its campaign promises.  He also advised the beneficiaries to take good care of the machines.

The eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Victor Smith said the NDC government was voted into power based on its Better Ghana Agenda programmes and the President and his teams are determining to deliver as promised.  He said in the Eastern Region a lot has been achieved in the sectors.  

In the education Sector alone more six Hundred (6oo) facilities have been provide.  Mr. Smith said the presentation of the laptops is to develop the young one in school in the area of ICT. 

According to him, this is a clear manifestation of the government in ensuring sustainable development for Ghanaians.
