With adequate toilet facilities captured as one of the key underpinnings of reaching the 2015 target of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s) of improved sanitation, the Yendi Municipal Assembly is gradually collaborating with other development partners to secure more sanitation facilities in the municipality.
In the light of this, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has moved to collaborate with the Assembly in the construction of three toilet facilities in some basic schools in the district.
This is to pave way for easy access to toilet facilities by community members in the municipality as well as help minimise the consequences brought about by poor sanitation condition.
District Chief Executive for the area, Issah Zakaria in an interaction with Ghanadistricts.com disclosed that the facilities were also intended to boost the social lives of the residents with regards to basic social infrastructure.
Beneficiaries of the project include Nur-Anwal JHS, Malzeri Islamic and Primary, and Sambu Islamic and Primary schools, respectively.
Mr. Zakaria said the projects are currently ongoing, and forms part of the “Better Ghana” agenda being pursued in the municipality.
