Assembly Members in the Nkwanta South District in the Volta Region have recently being presented with 45 motor bikes to aid mobility in their electoral areas.
The Bikes form part of measures to by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to mitigate transportation difficulties assembly members are confronted with in the discharge of their duties. It is also step towards deepening the decentralization process to allow more participation by the grass root.
Presenting the bikes to the assembly members, Chief Executive of the District,Joseph Nyofam Ninkab urged the assembly members to make good use of the bikes by having regular contacts with their people and discussing matters that would help formulate good policies and programmes to better the lives of the people.
The chief executive advised those who are yet to master the act of riding the motor bikes to do so for their own safety and the safety of other road users as well as to avoid getting into trouble with the law for traffic offences.
Mr. Ninkab cautioned against using the bikes for commercial purposes as that was not the focus for distributing them.
