Mr. Victor Smith, the parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress at the Abuakwa North Constituency officially launched is campaign on Saturday with a pledge to help the constituency achieve accelerated development.
The well attended launch brought together large crowd of party supporters from the constituency, the general public and some party officials including Deputy Minister of Tourism, Baba Jamal Ahmed, National Women’s Organizer, Ms Anita Desoso, Mr. Samuel Nuamah Donkor, former NDC Ashanti Regional Minister, some municipal /district chief executives as well as other parliamentary aspirants from the party.
Mr. Smith noted that the current states of under-development at the Abuakwa North Constituency and the entire Abuakwa State were due to bad leadership over the years as those they have always voted for to parliament failed to use their influence to bring the needed development to the people as should have been the case.
He said Abuakwa State has produced a lot of prominent people and therefore has no business being under-developed, with a number of social infrastructure and amenities lacking in almost all the communities.
He urged the people to be more concerned about the provision of social and economic facilities that would propel their businesses and lives; and not to allow themselves to be deceived by some token of money that would be distributed to them by people who would want to buy their votes just to get to parliament.
Mr Smith who is also the Eastern Regional Minister called on the people to move away from political consideration of candidates and vote for someone who is result oriented that can help solve the numerous challenges confronting the constituency.
He assured the crowed and all the people of Abuakwa North that he is the right person to ensure that that accelerated development is achieved and appealed to them to rally behind him and vote him as their representative in parliament.
He said he has already started using his influence to solve some of the developmental challenges including the reconstruction and modernization of New Tafo market, road improvement among others.
Mr. Smith said a lot of projects have been executed under the “Better Ghana” agenda in the Abuakwa North Constituency and therefore appealed to the people to vote to retain Professor Mills and the NDC in government to continue the good work.
He entreated supporters of the party to work hard by disseminating the good work of the government to the people in order that they would vote for the party.
