AMA: 42 WC projects initiated
 | | | WC | |
In a bid to improve the level of sanitation in the area, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) under the able leadership of Dr. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije since 2009 has initiated about 42 separate 20-seater public water closet (WC) toilet facilities of which 25 have been completed.
The remaining 17 which are expected to be completed before the end of this year are currently at various levels of completion.
The project is under the Accra Sewerage Improvement Project (ASIP), an initiative which seeks to reduce the rate under which some neglectful residents who do not have toilet facilities in their home resort to easing themselves anywhere they found comfortable for them.
As at now almost all the 11 sub-metros under the AMA have benefited from more than one of the project including areas such as Laterbiokorshie, Kwashieman, Mamprobi Sempe, Bro Lawson, Obedru, Maamobi, Awudome, Achimota, and a host of others.
Adopting another innovative way to improve the level of sanitation in the area however, the AMA has again constructed three (3) sanitation courts at Ablekuma Central, Okailkoi North and La to persecute landlords who refuse to provide toilet facilities for their tenants.
