The Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has called on residents in the newly created districts to work assiduously to promote development in their respective areas.
He said a strong nation can only be built with unity and hard work hence the siting of new district capitals should not impede development.
The Minister noted that the ministry have had series of complaints and disagreements in the various part of the country where these new district capitals have been named, which he advised to put aside all differences to ensure development.
According to him, government has already allocated GHs 40 million as start-up money for these districts and assured that more assistance will be provided.
Mr. Ankrah said this when he visited the people of North Tongu District to inspect some of the projects executed as a way of accessing the preparedness of the new districts to operation after being inaugurated.
However, 46 new districts had been added to the existing 170 bringing the number to 216.
